Latest ISO 45001 draft available for IOSH members
| | News | 18 April 2017
IOSH members can comment on the latest draft of a management systems standard which will provide a universally-accepted framework for creating healthy and safe workplaces.
The Institution has received the latest version of ISO 45001 – known as ISO 45001.2 – and has made it available to members, for consultation purposes only.
The draft international standard has been edited by the ISO Secretariat and sent to all National Standards Bodies (NSBs) for translation. As ISO 45001.2 is already in English, BSI (the UK NSB) has provided a copy early.
IOSH members can view the latest draft here, through MyIOSH, but are reminded it is covered by strict ISO copyright and must not be circulated to others or used for any other purposes.
IOSH respondents are required to use the template provided and send to email@example.com by 16 June 2017.
Following the consultation, the committee responsible for drawing up the standard will convene again from 18-23 September in Malacca, Malaysia. Should there be a positive vote on this second draft standard, this is likely to be the final meeting, with the publication of the standard to be finalised by the end of this year.
Richard Jones, Head of Policy and Public Affairs at IOSH, said: “IOSH members have contributed well at all stages of ISO 45001 development and a good level of international consensus has now been reached.
“This public consultation provides a last opportunity for members to comment if they feel there are any significant issues still remaining. We’d welcome member responses by mid-June.”
