  • HSE Consultation (CD283) on the implementation of new and revised Workplace Exposure Limits

    The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) is consulting on the implementation of new and revised Indicative Occupational Exposure Limit Values (IOELVs) for thirty-one chemical substances to help protect workers from the ill-health effects of exposure to hazardous substances in the workplace. This implementation of Directive 2017/164/EU introduces this as the 4th list of IOELVs.

    This consultation relates to the IOSH collective response to the HSE regarding the above changes.

  • Independent Review of Building Regulations and Fire Safety

    Following the Grenfell Tower disaster, the Government has commissioned this Independent Review of Building Regulations and Fire Safety, led by Dame Judith Hackitt, which is now calling for evidence. Its terms of reference are found in Annex A and a list of regulatory system documents (not intended to be comprehensive) in Annex B.

  • BS 45002-0:2017 Occupational health and safety management systems – General guidelines for the application of ISO 45001

    BSI have produced BS 45002-0:2017 to provide implementation guidance for the new international occupational health and safety management systems standard ISO 45001. This public consultation draft is made available for review and BSI are seeking comments on it using the template provided.

  • GRI 403: Occupational Health and Safety Consultation

    The Global Reporting Initiative has provided an international framework for sustainability reporting for many years, the most used such framework in the world, and has recently converted it into a standard. It is now consulting on the health and safety content (GRI 403).

  • Sentencing Council Manslaughter Guideline consultation

    The Sentencing Council has produced this consultation paper to seek views on the sentencing of manslaughter offences (though not the legislation and case law upon which such offences are based).

    It identifies four types of offences to be covered by the draft Guideline: manslaughter by reason of loss of control; manslaughter by reason of diminished responsibility; unlawful act manslaughter; and gross negligence manslaughter.
