I started as a Bricklayer within the construction business, after a three year apprenticeship I worked various sites around London and organisations.

In 1985 I joined a small builders in Twickenham in mostly renovation work including Richmond Church on one job the Heritage Trust gave us an award for the work we did on a listed building.

1992 I joined a Courier company as a mailroom assistant and radio engineer, fitting cars with one way radios and looking after 40 delivery staff in SE London.

1998 I was approached to work with a company who were printing VHS DVD sleeves, I was a Maintenance/Packing and Transport Manager, looking after two 100 year old properties, and ensuring deliveries went out to worldwide destinations.

2006 the same company was brought out by an American company, I then started to get into Health and Safety as no one else wanted to do it, after passing my NEBOSH general certificate I was promoted to European H&S manger, visiting various sites across Europe ( Poland, Germany, Austria and Italy) and auditing them against Best Practise. A member of the BPIF I also one a Seal of Excellence received at the houses of parliament, I was employed with them until 2012 then made redundant.

I joined the RFU in 2012 as cover for maternity leave and have been here since.

  • Travelled around nine sites in the UK and Europe to assist in setting group goals & policy and to ensure that the Health and Safety culture was being enforced, scoring each site against criteria from best practice.
  • Provided training throughout the company to match goals set out.
  • Worked on Carbon Footprint and energy saving projects over multiple sites, identifying savings opportunities
  • Worked with local schools in Health and Safety Awareness programmes.
  • Assisted the Quality Manager in maintaining & developing Environmental Management systems including the achievement and maintenance of ISO14001 Environmental Management certification
  • Facilitated the efficient management and administration of Peckham, Vauxhall and Hammersmith sites, ensuring the best use of existing space to support changing requirements.
  • Managed all contractors from briefing to completion of breakdown, maintenance and improvement work to ensure compliance with Health and safety requirements.
