Liam Duddy

A HSE Specialist with Rowan Drilling UK, Liam has been an Offshore Group Committee member since January 2015.

Prior to joining Rowan, Liam spent three years as Course Leader / Lecturer for the MSc in Health, Safety and Risk Management at Robert Gordon University (RGU), Aberdeen. Before that he worked in HV power transmission, civil engineering, construction, design and with local authorities in Ireland, the UK and Norway.

Liam’s main areas of interest, both in work and research, are:
• re-invigorating tried and trusted safety systems within current state-of-the-art management programmes.
• identifying areas and ways to implement principles of resiliency in day-to-day activities and projects.

Liam holds a BSc (Hons) in Health and Safety Systems and a Master of Applied Science in Safety Systems. He also has a PG Certificate in HE Learning and Teaching. He is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and GradIOSH, working to achieve Chartered status.

Liam’s role on the Committee is to work with Mike Cowie on ways to strengthen relationships between the Group and education providers. In particular to raise awareness of OG and IOSH in general amongst students, and to highlight for them potential areas for value-adding research projects. He welcomes suggestions from OG members in both these areas.
