Two companies fined after death of onshore wind turbine technician

22 December 2015

This accident occurred in 2009, but the trial took place only in December 2015. The death resulted when the technician’s harness became entangled in an inadequately guarded shaft coupling during a 2-party equipment inspection.

The court heard that the lack of suitable guarding was known to all those involved. Both the equipment supplier and the wind farm operator pleaded guilty and were fined.
