Step Change updates Lifting & Mechanical Handling Guidelines

9 February 2015

The 8th Edition of this excellent resource has been published by Step Change in Safety. The document defines the responsibilities, training, competencies and assessment of those involved in lifting and mechanical handling operations, and sets out a structured approach aimed at ensuring such operations are adequately risk assessed and systematically planned. They also provide examples of key documents such as lift plans which can be used where no similar document exists, or to benchmark those that do.

They set a minimum standard for ensuring safe lifting and mechanical handling, but Step Change hope that users will find ways to further improve on them.

They are free to download for Step Change members, £50 for others
