Martin has been involved in aviation for over 28 years. Beginning his career in military aviation before moving into civil aviation, he has held various technical / engineering and safety roles over the course of his career. Though already part of a High Reliability Organisation (where safety culture is ingrained in the operation), his interest in safety was stimulated with this move to his organisation’s Flight Safety Section in 2007. Having gained an appreciation and understanding of the principles and concepts of aviation safety, human factors and Just Culture, Martin then went on to attain post-graduate qualifications in Fire Safety, Occupational Safety and Health, and Human Factors and Safety Assessment  in Aviation.

A trained accident investigator and safety professional, Martin has been the Technical Safety Manager with an Irish based airline since February 2014.
