Alison Willis

Alison is a graduate member of IOSH and has attended the local West Wales meetings since 2009 upon joining IOSH. She wanted to give some time back to the branch, having learned so much through their many interesting evening talks and visits. Alison is hoping to assist in the organisation of future events and encourages anyone with an interest in health and safety, either through work or study, to attend their local events and counteract the many myths that seem to be promoted about health and safety.

Alison's interest in health and safety developed through devising and developing practical safe systems of working at outdoor activities and events for voluntary sector youth groups. She studied for an MSc in Environmental Health which included health and safety in addition to food safety, environmental protection, housing and public health.

More recently, she has provided advice and training on health and safety to small businesses in West Wales. Currently she's working for Carmarthenshire County Council inspecting privately rented properties to assess the health, safety and wellbeing of occupants and advise landlords on repair works.

In her spare time, Alison sings in a local choir and the annual St David’s Festival Chorus, teaches swimming to adults and is a childrens' coach at Milford Haven Swimming Club.
