Welcome to IOSH in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) Branch

History of the branch

The IOSH UAE branch was formally the Middle East branch, back in the days when we had no representation in the region, a small group of our members decided to establish a platform where those with a common interest could meet and discuss new developments and share best practice.

Since then, we have branched out, forming branches in Qatar and Oman, we currently have in excess of 1,500 safety professionals registered with the UAE branch, with the focus still being on people sharing a common interest, we meet on a monthly basis to network, whilst sharing health and safety knowledge and information from a number of different industries.

The branch

The UAE branch strives to support the aim and objectives of IOSH, including their strategies, whilst ensuing we remain close to our roots and ensuring we achieve the aims and objectives that our own branch wants to achieve. This year we have seen the launch of the IOSH Work 2022 strategy, a much awaited strategy that we will use to suit our needs in the region, this will allow us to develop our own strategy and assist us in promoting the advancement of our profession throughout the UAE.

We represent all grades of IOSH membership and we recognise the importance of providing informative and stimulating meetings, professional development events, workshops, and seminars, for the continued professional development of all our members.

We hold meetings once a month, usually the second to last Tuesday of each month, in Abu Dhabi or Dubai. During the Holy Month of Ramadan, we use this opportunity to link back to the culture here in the UAE and hold our annual Iftar with our members who are participating in the fasting period of Ramadan.

The UAE branch is one of the most active branches in IOSH, this is down to the continuing commitment of both our members and the committee that those members have voted in to deliver on our aims. If you would like to be a part of this branch whether you are a member or non-member, you can download our 2017 branch programme and book onto any one of our meetings.

I look forward to seeing you all at our meetings throughout 2017 and remain excited about working with all of you over the next 12 months to achieve the objectives of the UAE branch going forward.
