Samantha Day, committee member for IOSH Tyne and Wear, presents the best placement and poster prize to Carl Whelpdale.

Samantha Day, committee member for IOSH Tyne and Wear, presents the best placement and poster prize to Carl Whelpdale.

The prize is sponsored by the IOSH Tyne & Wear branch and is given to the student who submits the poster that gains the highest marks in the placement module.

The MSc Health, safety and Environment is accredited by IOSH and completion of the taught elements of the programme enables students to join IOSH as graduate members.

Students who study the MSc have the opportunity to complete an 8 week placement with a local employer, whereby they put into the practice the knowledge gained during the taught modules of the programme.

Carl completed his placement with Cedrec, and his poster described his experiences on the placement, and the learnings that he will apply to his developing career in health and safety.

The prize was presented for the first time this year by Samantha Day, at an event where all of the student placement posters were showcased.

The Tyne and Wear branch congratulate Carl on his achievement, and wish him well in his developing health and safety career.
