On 7 May 2015, IOSH Singapore Branch was invited for the (DOSH) Department of Occupational Safety and Health (Malaysia) and (IPAF) International Powered Joint Access Federation Joint Seminar 2015.The seminar was held at Hotel Puri Pujangga, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia. IOSH Singapore Branch was represented by EXCO member, Lim Ping at the seminar.

The theme of the seminar was Mobile Elevated Work Platform and Mast Climber Work Platform Safety & Training – How much do you know about them?

The seminar kicked off with the welcoming address by Mr Raymond Wat, IPAF Regional General Manager, followed by the opening address by DOSH Deputy Director General (Occupational Safety), En. Omar Bin Mat Piah.

The seminar then officially launched the “Are You Trained” campaign in Malaysia. Being the supporting association, IOSH was invited to signed and pledge its support for this campaign, together with IPAF, DOSH and other invited guests from sponsoring and supporting associations.

The seminar then continued with presentations from DOSH and IPAF before an outdoor live presentation on Pre-Use inspection on Mobile Elevated Work Platforms.

A buffet lunch of local delicacies was then served before the seminar continued with four more sessions of round table discussions where delegates and panellists from various industries and countries were able to exchange on wide ranging issues of the MEWP industry.

A networking coffee session after the seminar provided an excellent opportunity for the branch to engage with the various delegates. Being near the Headquarters of National Institution of Occupational Safety and Health of Malaysia, all delegates who attended were eager to promote safety in the work place and develop the industry with regards to working and operating safely. It is hoped that the branch will be able to continue working with members and companies based in Malaysia.
