First Branch networking night for 2015

10 February 2015

On 9 February we saw our first branch networking night for 2015. With over 55 members and non-members present it was an excellent evening. We were pleased to have attend and present at this event Dr Greg Whitehead from ActiveLife Chiropractic. After a brief up date by Darren Brunton (Branch Chairman) where forth coming events were announced and the AGM date highlighted – Darren went on to say a big thank you to John Birchall who having had an excellent last few years of his career in Singapore as Safety Director for Marina Bay Sands and followed by Keppel Land / Group has now retired and will be leaving Singapore this month. The branch presented John with several cards, a retirement gift and a letter of appreciation from IOSH UK. This was followed by a scrumptious buffet dinner.

During the dinner Dr Greg was showing a rolling animated video related to ergonomics at home, at work and at play. This set the scene for his informative presentation on the same subject, raising issues that we all know and accept which at the end of the day cause us all pain in the back, neck and more. Dr Greg drove home for us all that Ergonomics plays a fundamental role in health at work and at home, and that where a Chiropractic care can certainly help and cure such ailments, we need to manage ourselves and work colleagues to prevent the situation reaching a stage where such treatment is needed. After explaining about the human body Dr Greg went on to describe how the poor posture affects more than just the way we feel, but how we look and how we will be when we all reach older age.

After the presentation ActiveLife team of Doctors and Nurses where available for all delegates to have a posture assessment , where by using a posture photographic imagery free advice was then provided. Many members took the advantage of such a free assessment and learnt a great deal on what they need to do to manage their health and ergonomic awareness.

With such a large turnout of members – some who had joined us for the first time the feedback has been very encouraging with comments like ‘’An awesome night – thanks’’
