Committee Member

Adam Brown

I work for a North East company which designs, develops, and supplies chemical solutions technology to the global oil and gas industry. Having started there as a product development chemist with offshore experience and a keen interest in safety, I joined the HSE committee before undertaking the NEBOSH General Certificate. Following this I took on an expanded role as the group chemical and facility safety officer; a position which offers great variety and experience. As well as leading HSE initiatives and encouraging the positive health and safety culture we have built up, I have been able to take products from concept and development in the laboratory through to deployment in the field in a variety of offshore sites globally. Involvement in this way has allowed for easier sharing of safety experience and learning in a direct manner, as well as building upon communication skills in often difficult conditions.

Having only recently joined IOSH, admitted as a Technical Member, I’ve found the branch events to be very informative and a great way to highlight new topics or to hear different perspectives and ideas. As part of the committee I hope to be able to help the Branch to continue to deliver support and content for its members.
