Awards

  • Presidents Distinguished Service Award 2013
  • Team Leader of a safety team with the responsibility for developing and production of a Railways Safety Case for the operation and maintenance of the Power Supplies for the London Underground Network.
  • Commendation awarded by British Steel for a submission in their Safety Award Scheme for the development and performance of the Safety Management System for work on construction sites.
  • Commendation awarded for the performance of the Safety Management System for the Jubilee Line Extension Project Safety Award Scheme for two consecutive years.

My Career

  • 1958 – 1964 -Trained as a student apprentice and studied electrical engineering at Rugby College of Engineering and at Dartford College.
  • 1964 - Site engineer installation and commissioning of electrical plant throughout UK and overseas.Work ranged from paper making, water treatment, marine propulsion, power stations, mine winding, Irrigation, hydro-electric pumping schemes, power delivery for surface rail contracts and the power supply contract for the Jubilee Line Extension for London Underground. 
  • 1978 -Studied Health and Safety at the Engineering Employers Federation, joined IOSH in 1979.
  • 1980- Senior Operations Engineer and Field Operations Safety Advisor
  • 1992 - Health, Safety and Environmental Manager.
  • 2003 – 2016 Health and Safety consultant. - Assignments in manufacturing, construction, retail and distribution / warehousing, automated control systems, Health and Safety adviser at the Royal Shakespeare Company.

  • IOSH  Representative  on Health and Safety Policy Panel, Institution of Engineering Technology (IET) (5 Years) to date.

Aims for IOSH Mid Shires Branch

  • My aim as the Branch President is to provide advice and guidance and support the branch executive in achieving our objectives within our strategy in which the Mid Shires Branch is dedicated to supporting the Work 2022 initiative.
