East Lancashire District

East Lancashire District

Welcome to East Lancashire District of IOSH (A part of the Manchester Branch).

For all up to date news, events and information for the East Lancashire District please visit our new website.

The district was established in 2012 and meets at lunchtimes during the working week serving the M65 corridor and East Lancashire. The District meetings are well attended and membership is growing. The committee work hard to ensure an interesting, engaging and informative program of speakers providing a good mix of subjects at every meeting. In addition to this the group exists to support new and existing members and local business in all aspects of Occupational Health and Safety.

Advising on IOSH Membership

If you have an interest in health and safety, or just want to be kept in touch with developments so that you make the right business decisions, there's plenty in IOSH for you. If you are interested in becoming a member of IOSH or if you are already a member and wish to progress to the next stage of membership, we can advise on levels of membership from affiliate through to Fellowship and help with Continuous Professional Development issues. Please ask for details of our CPD, IPD and peer review workshops. The East Lancashire District of IOSH aims to provide assistance for its members to become true professionals in occupational health and safety.

Learn about the subject being presented

Every meeting has an invited guest speaker. Members are encouraged to invite friends and colleagues to the District meetings. Members are free to circulate details of the Branch and District programmes at their place of work to encourage new members.

Network with other safety professionals

There are a wide range of membership levels within our District from Technician to Fellow who can assist in mentoring and advising on best practice for any individual who is hoping to join IOSH or upgrade their membership.

Discuss current issues

We always try to arrange a balanced programme of events at our meetings and are open to suggestions on current issues which affect our membership.  Similarly if you have been involved in some new task at work or are trying out some safety topics then why not let us know about it.  We usually have a short local “warm up” speaker prior to the main presenter, which has been found to be of benefit to other safety professionals.

Seek advice from other attendees

We are all committed to furthering the aims of IOSH and to helping and offering every assistance to our members and visitors.  With our wide range of membership levels we have a wealth of experience in occupational safety and health issues which you can call upon.  Just contact one of the Committee members and see if we can help you.

Make new friends and contacts

Members are encouraged to invite friends and colleagues to the local meetings. At our meetings, which are held at lunchtime, we have a room set aside for a buffet lunch where everyone is encouraged to network.

East Lancashire IOSH District also hold a number of joint meetings with the East Lancashire Occupational Health and Safety Group and encourage members of both groups to support each other. All attendees are given details of Branch and other District meetings and encouraged to attend.

District members can view minutes and presentations from the document store. We also have an East Lancs District news page that you can view.

If you would like to know more about the committee email the district committee.

Our meetings are usually held at Clitheroe Cricket Club, Chatburn Road, Clitheroe, BB7 2AS. Full details can be found on the Venue page of our microsite.
