Get free business case resources

27 February 2013

IOSH has launched new tools to help members in Ireland make the business case for health and safety.

The free resources have been developed as part of the Lif€ Savings campaign, which aims to show businesses how good health and safety management can save serious cash as well as lives. The campaign was launched in Dublin in February.

At the launch, Gavin Pattison, Associate Director at Alkermes plc, welcomed the new resources, and said: “This campaign is something that my company is endorsing as it’s very much part of our business strategy – reducing injuries, illness and costs, improving moral and productivity. The other aspect is the competitive advantage, and businesses can demonstrate it through effective health and safety.”

Anne Drummond, Director, Centre for Safety and Health at Work added: “I think it’s really important because we have very few concrete examples of how money can actually be saved, and very often people find it hard to see that you can save money as well as improve efficiency through health and safety, so it’s great to have real life case studies.”

Go to the Lif€ Savings campaign webpages where you’ll find:

• ‘Cash back’, a simple guide to business case development
• case studies detailing how four IOSH members in Ireland developed initiatives that saved their business thousands or even millions of euros
• the interactive ‘Save a million’ quiz, designed to use as an engagement tool in presentations to managers
• interviews with Minister Richard Bruton TD, Martin O’Halloran, HSA Chief Executive Officer, and Khyran Johnson, General Manager at Janssen Pharmaceutical – all backing the benefits of investing in intelligent health and safety management
• a resource file with links to research and more online tools and case studies

For hard copies of the resources, email the campaigns team.
