The Hong Kong Branch has been serving our members in Hong Kong for nearly 17 years. Riding on the unfailing support from our Headquarters in the UK, the Branch persistently serves as an effective platform to facilitate more than 780 members to maintain and enhance their professional knowledge in the safety and health.

Each year, the Branch organises and co-organises numerous conferences, technical seminars and technical visits and publishes periodic newsletters to enable our members to keep abreast of their professional knowledge and the latest development in the industry. Meanwhile, our mentorship programme and student papers competition for the accredited undergraduate courses are valuable for the young members and students.

The Branch also serves as an essential platform for our members to exchange their views and know-how with other fellow members. On behalf of the Committee, I would like to assure all members that we will make every sincere effort to keep on providing excellent services in the coming year, if not better.

In the past few years, there were increasing public awareness and concerns and more stringent legal requirements in the safety and health. On the other hand, new approaches for system formulation and emerging technologies are important to drive all professionals in the industry to redefine their approaches to the safety and health management and to equip themselves with new knowledge. As one of the leading professional institutions in the industry, the Branch spares no effort to help our members maintain and advance their professional status in order to brave all challenges ahead of us.

The Asia Pacific Occupational Safety and Health Organisation (APOSHO) 33 Conference will be held in Hong Kong in 2018 and the Branch is one of the key members of APOSHO to participate in this remarkable event, the success of which could not be accomplished without the full support from our members.

To this end, I sincerely urge every member to render every support to the Branch and the safety and health industry in Hong Kong.
