Using the IOSH Blueprint

On Wednesday 21 December 2016, the IOSH Caribbean Branch hosted a presentation on the IOSH Blueprint at the Point Lisas Energy Association (PLEA) Sub Committee for Contractor HSEQ management, held at the Plipdeco Conference Centre, Orinoco Drive, Point Lisas Industrial Estate. The Committee consists primarily of HSE practitioners in the energy and petro- chemical industry.

The objective of the session was to introduce to the PLEA Sub-Committee, the self-assessment tool and the development plan as a means of pursuing continuous professional development in a structured way. The outcome was two-fold; to provide a tool and a mechanism for the HSE practitioners to assess their competency and self-development, and, to assess the potential of the tool to assist the Committee with Contractor Management.

The session was facilitated by Stephen Arneaud, IOSH CB Executive Committee member and Communications Coordinator.

The Committee membership present represented 15 major petrochemical and energy based companies, and the views expressed were that the Blueprint can be used to raise competency levels of HSE practitioners and contractors operating on the Industrial Estate.  In this regard, the Committee through its Chairman, Jerson Wattie, requested another meeting and continued dialog with the Branch.

Stephen expressed thanks to the Committee on behalf of the Caribbean Branch and wished all a Happy and Safe Christmas and Holiday Season.
