Executive Committee Member - Karen Lopez

Karen began her journey in the field of occupational safety and health 5 years ago when she attended a seminar that focused on laboratory safety. She realised that having a BSc. in Chemistry and an MSc. In Environmental Science and Management did not necessarily mean that she knew everything there was to know about safe laboratory practices. After attaining the NEBOSH Level 3 National General Certificate in Occupational Safety & Health, she took on the role of implementing proper safety management and has hosted safety seminars and compiled literature to aid lab technicians understand the importance of safe procedures in the lab.

She is now employed in the Construction and Restoration field where she continues to influence safety leadership and management at all levels at the company. She is currently in the final stages of completing the NEBOSH Level 6 National Diploma in Occupational Safety and Health and hopes to continue to work her way to Chartered IOSH Membership.
