About me

I have worked in HSSE since 1995 throughout Europe and Africa, with postings in The Netherlands, UK, France, Belgium, Spain, Algeria, Morocco, Libya, Nigeria, Tunisia, Turkey, Kazakhstan, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Kurdistan, Oman, UAE and Iran.

My main work objectives are to ensure my achievements exceed expectations, leading to an improvement in HSSE culture, practices and performance. Compliance with applicable HSSE legislation and company requirements and reduction in work-related incidents (and their consequences) are also key priorities for a holistic approach to HSSE management. I further ensure this by maintaining a sound HSSE MS, bespoke to country operations and aligned with corporate requirements. This is then implemented in the field amongst personnel and contractors, by means of mutual understanding and awareness. This is enhanced when the HSSE practices are fully understood and endorsed by management and the workforce. I strive to integrate HSSE into daily operations and ensure that there are strong local HSSE competencies, allowing for the development and enhancement of local HSSE capabilities through coaching, support and on the job training. The HSSE Role must be credible and visible throughout all layers of an organisation. I strive to maintain good rapports with field operations, operational departments, other business units and the corporate function for the dissemination of Best Practices, continuous improvement and an overall proactive, flexible and solution-based approach to HSSE management.

Having lived in various countries and worked in different industries, I am adaptable to the different cultures, climates, work styles and foreign languages. During the last twenty years, I have worked in various sectors, from both operational and HSSE management angles: Oil and Gas (Upstream and Downstream), Manufacturing, Construction and Civil Works, Housing, Service Industry, Finance, Insurance, Public Services, Automotive, Food and Beverage Industry.
