Nic Steevenson introduces Human Factors and explains how they can affect your organisation causing even the most skilled and diligent professionals to deliver an inconsistent performance, simply because they are human.

Error is ubiquitous and organisations which rely on human interaction to make critical decisions are exposed to high risks from human error. She will explain how the Virtual Jet Centre trains teams from a non-aviation background using a 737 flight simulator so that they can relate it to optimising performance and behaviour within teams in the workplace.

What's in it for you?

Human Factors evolved from the aviation industry where human error has been documented as a primary contributor to more than 70% of commercial aircraft accidents.

Find out how teams from a non-aviation background are able to experience the full motion 737 flight simulator and be put safely under pressure in a fully controlled and immersive environment.

Understand how the simulator and instructors can give valuable insights into team work, decision making, communication and how pressure impacts upon performance. Human error cannot be eliminated, however, with an increased understanding of human factors and training, teams can mitigate against it.

There is a growing recognition of the role of Human Factors within the safety culture of industries such as healthcare, construction, transport and finance. Find out how we can use our own errors, failures and accidents as learning tools and use them as the driver for change and improvement in our own safety culture.

This event qualifies for CPD and will provide a great opportunity for networking with other safety practitioners based in and around the South Coast.
