International health and safety professionals gather
Hundreds of delegates from as far afield as
Hong Kong descended on Leicester for a conference on health and
safety.
IOSH (the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health), based
in Wigston, Leicestershire, is the world’s largest professional
health and safety body.
The conference, held at the Marriott Hotel in Leicester, was to
commend the hard work of its volunteer members who promote
occupational health and safety worldwide. Delegates at the event
flew in from across the UK, the Caribbean and the Middle East.
As one of the leading health and safety organisations in the
world, IOSH has a network of local groups and branches, which
raises awareness of health and safety in their local area or
profession.
On top of educating its volunteer members, the event marks the
chartered body’s annual general meeting where the IOSH Presidential
baton is handed over.
Steve Granger, IOSH’s new President, said:
“This is the third year we have held a conference of this scale in
Leicester and it has been a great success.
“I am delighted to have been formally
recognised as the new President of the Institution and to have had
the opportunity meet a large number of our volunteer members from
across the globe.
“As the world’s largest chartered body for
health and safety professionals, our members are at the heart of
everything we do, it is therefore vitally important at events like
this we take the time to educate and commend the hard work they put
into IOSH.”
