HSE response to concerns over new consultant register

The UK government’s plan to introduce a new register for safety consultants in January next year has had a mixed reception from IOSH members. While many of you have voiced support for the new online accreditation scheme, others have raised concerns over the entry criteria and how the register will operate in practice.

We’ve listened to your concerns, and put them to the Health and Safety Executive, which is charged with developing and launching the register. The HSE has now come back to us with its responses.
