IOSH survey participant wins novel prize
4 April 2012

Congratulations to one of our IOSH 2012
delegates, who has been named the lucky winner of a Kindle
after completing the Institution’s survey on internet usage, at the
event.
Kerrie Brindle, divisional manager for Shirley Parsons
Associates, was picked out of the hat, having been entered into a
free prize draw for taking part in the survey. She was one of 140
attendees who answered the IOSH web team’s questionnaire at the
Institution’s annual conference and exhibition, in March.
IOSH 2012 was held at Manchester Central, showcasing key
speakers from the world of occupational safety and health, as well
as opportunities for topical discussion, information on best
practice and innovative new products and techniques. During the
event, delegates – both IOSH members and non-members - were asked
to answer questions on how they use the internet, as well as IOSH’s
website.
Kerrie, who has worked in the health and
safety recruitment field for over 10 years, said: “I enjoyed the
IOSH conference this year - it seemed the busiest I have attended
and was a great opportunity to meet up with clients and candidates.
I am pleased to have taken the time to give my feedback on the
conference and now have a Kindle as a result, so thank you to
IOSH.”
Of the 140 people surveyed during the two days, with 81 per cent
of those confirming that they use the internet for business or work
purposes. Nearly three quarters said they used it for social
networking and personal use, with 34 per cent saying they used some
form of mobile technology regularly to access the web.
IOSH head of communications Ian Smart said:
“The internet is now an integral part of running a successful
organisation, as it allows people to access the information they
want, when they want. This survey was about getting people’s own
views on how they use the web, what they expect from the web and
how they’d like to see both IOSH and its website move with those
requirements.
“We’d like to thank everyone that took part.
The view’s we’ve received are really important to us and we’ll be
using this information to ensure that the services we provide fit
both the needs of our members and others who visit us.”
