IOSH President makes the business case for health and
safety
14 February 2010

(l-r) Richard Jones, Director of Policy and
Technical, Trevor Jennings, Risk Manager for Lloyd’s and Steve
Granger, IOSH President.
IOSH President Steve Granger put forward a
strong case for health and safety in a speech to underwriters at
Lloyd’s of London recently.
Organised by London Met Branch member Trevor Jennings, Risk
Manager for Lloyd’s of London, the event was attended by more than
60 insurance underwriters who heard about IOSH’s role in the
government’s review into health and safety as well as the role the
Institution plays in influencing business leaders and
stakeholders.
In his speech, Steve outlined the work IOSH does and stressed
the importance of good health and safety at the heart of business
decisions. Steve also touched on how IOSH was constantly driving
standards in health and safety as well as what new legislation
means for insurers.
Speaking after the event, Steve said: “This
event was a really valuable exercise and a new audience for us to
engage with. A representative from the Association of British
Insurers will be speaking at IOSH 2011, so it’s a great opportunity
to come to such a prestigious building as Lloyd’s to speak with
this type of audience.
“It’s essential we continue to deliver the
message that good health and safety is good for
business.”
