IOSH recently attended and supported the
7th HSE (health and safety experts) Forum on Energy.
The three-day event which took place in Doha, saw 300
stakeholders from the oil and gas sector gather to discuss health
and safety management and sustainable environmental practices.
‘Moulding the future of HSE Fraternity: Global Vision &
Local Practise’ was the theme of this year’s event which hosted
speakers from health and safety for the likes of Qatar Petroleum,
Qatargas, RasGas, Saudi Aramco, BP, ADNOC and Halliburton.
Subash Ludhra, IOSH President Elect who
represented IOSH at the event, said: “The forum has been extremely
interesting and it has been fantastic to network with like-minded
individuals from one of the most hazardous industry sectors –
sharing their ideas and hopes for the future.
“The event opened with a call for health and
safety to be embedded into the youths of society and the activities
they do – a familiar message, which continued to shine through
during the event.
“Recent accidents within the oil and gas
industry have put the sector under the spotlight. However, it has
been great to see that the industry is continuously trying to
improve, and do all it can to protect its workforce.”
Complying with the theme, safety professionals who attended the
event were witness to speeches, panel discussions, all of which
reinforced the importance of sticking to all aspects of health and
safety standards when operating in the energy sector.
