Ergonomics book launched at IOSH 2011
15 March 2011
To kick off the activity on the IOSH stand
at the IOSH 2011 exhibition, IOSH launched the new edition of
Ergonomics in action: a practical guide
for the workplace (previously published as Workplace
ergonomics: a practical guide).
Ergonomics in action is a user-friendly
introduction to ergonomics, which is vital for the safe and
efficient running of any workplace. It’s written in a clear,
jargon-free style and gives straightforward explanations and
practical examples.
The rewritten and expanded new edition:
• focuses on ergonomics in the design process, job design and
work organisation
• covers areas of ergonomic importance, including hand tools,
computer use and manual handling
• includes the complex topic of upper limb disorders and a
chapter on anthropometrics
• offers several case studies to illustrate the human and
commercial benefits of following good ergonomic principles.
As a consultant ergonomist, Céline has extensive experience of
applying the principles of ergonomics to a wide variety of sectors.
About her book, she said:
“This book discusses the uses of ergonomics in a straightforward
and practical way and is intended to be taken onto the ‘shop floor’
and used on an everyday basis in any type of workplace.”
