Disciplinary Committee hearing
25 June 2010
The IOSH Disciplinary Committee met on 19
May 2010 to hear the case of Brett Wood.
Mr Wood had submitted written admissions to two allegations of
misconduct in advance and did not appear. The Disciplinary
Committee was satisfied that it could proceed in his absence. It
upheld both allegations, which were that Mr Wood had breached point
18 in the Code of Conduct. Firstly he was convicted of criminal
offences and secondly he did not inform the Institution of these
convictions. On the documentary evidence available, which included
Court certification, the Committee was satisfied that the
convictions were ‘relevant convictions’ as explained in the
guidance to Code point 18.
The Committee viewed the breaches as a very serious matter. It
decided that the appropriate sanction was to expel Mr Wood from
membership of the institution. It also ordered that he should
contribute to the institution’s costs in the sum of £150.
