Man killed in test track crash

A Swindon man has died after his vehicle crashed at a top vehicle testing site, police have confirmed.

Four other people suffered injuries in the incident which happened at the Millbrook proving ground in Bedfordshire on Tuesday morning. Authorities said the man died at the scene of the collision.

A Bedfordshire Police spokesman said officers from the specialist collision investigation unit have been deployed to analyse the incident. The four who were passengers in the car - three males and a female - were admitted into Bedford Hospital, but did not sustain life-threatening injuries.

"Collision investigation officers from the Bedfordshire and Hertfordshire Roads Policing Unit have carried out a full forensic examination of the scene and are being assisted by the Health and Safety Executive. Colleagues from the East of England Ambulance Service and Bedfordshire Fire and Rescue Service also attended," said the spokesman.

The driver has not yet been identified but police have notified the relatives of the other victims who were hurt in the crash.
