Posted Wed, 28 Jul
At least six people have been killed and hundreds injured in a powerful explosion that took place in a plastics factory in eastern China.
According to the official Xinhua News Agency, the blast occurred in the morning in downtown Nanjing - the capital of Jiangsu province.
Reporters saw burnt bodies carried from the disaster scene. According to the local media, over 300 people are currently in hospital, with 50 in a serious condition.
It is thought a gas leak could have triggered the explosion - that also injured passengers on a passing bus and caused damage to buildings and vehicles within 100 yards.
Every year, accidents related to fires, explosions and other problems kill thousands of people in China.
