Hello and welcome to the last issue of Connect for 2011
Next year will be a busy year for the health and safety
profession with a round of consultations off the back of the
Löfstedt report beginning as early as January
2012.
IOSH is waiting for the HSE to prioritise the regulations and
guidance that they will be revising, and once we learn more about
the timetable we’ll be communicating this back to members.
Consultations that could come into effect early January,
including those on hearing loss in the construction industry. There
are also consultations on two educationally-linked issues: study
programmes for 16-19-year-olds and removing the statutory duty to
deliver work-related learning at Key Stage 4.
Keep an eye out in future issues of Connect as well as
our social media channels for more information on the forthcoming
consultations.
In this issue of Connect, we have a blog on the way
tabloid editors rarely apologise for inaccuracies in their coverage
of issues such as health and safety. We also have a short video
where we assess member’s reaction to the UK Government’s response
to the Löfstedt report.
All that’s left is to wish all our members a very merry
Christmas and a safe and happy New Year.
