Get the best
Employers must get 'competent' advice on
health and safety – it's the law. But official guidance doesn't
spell out what that actually means. Someone without the right
qualifications and experience can claim to be a 'health and safety
adviser' and that means lives could be put at risk.
Making our voice heard
- we ensure that our members are offering the best advice through
our Initial and Continuing Professional Development schemes
- we've worked with the Institute of Directors and HSC on
guidance for directors – 'Leading health and safety at work'
- we've published research looking at the link between expert
safety advice and business performance
- we've published free guides for consultants and companies on
what makes a competent health and safety consultant
- we're working with stakeholders on a feasibility study for
accrediting health and safety consultants
Quote me
"Health and safety is a crucial part of any
successful business, and that's a message the government is happy
to reiterate over and over again. The Get the Best campaign will
raise awareness among employers of the need to get the best advice
on health and safety."
Lord McKenzie, Health and Safety Minister
