IOSH members given "opportunity to shine"
16 July 2012
IOSH members are being encouraged to enter
this year’s European Good Practice Awards to showcase their
excellence and dedication to occupational safety and health.
The awards are part of the European Agency for Safety and Health
at Work’s ‘Working Together for Risk Prevention’ campaign. They
have been designed to recognise organisations that have found
innovative ways of making good health and safety practices, a
routine part of management.
Jane White, IOSH research and information
services manager, said: “These awards offer all IOSH members the
opportunity to shine and promote the real reasons health and safety
exists in any workplace – to save lives and reduce injury and
illness.
“If you’re an IOSH member and have an
initiative that you’ve created and are proud of, which highlights
some fantastic examples of managers and employees working together
for risk prevention, then why not apply.”
There are two categories open to applicants – an award for
organisations employing fewer than 100 workers, and those with 100
or more. Entries are welcome from across Europe and winners will
receive their awards at a ceremony in Spring 2013. Details of the
winning initiatives are set to be published across Europe and
promoted through the European Agency website. The deadline to enter
is 3 October 2012.
Jane added: “IOSH is continuously looking for
case studies that highlight good practice from our members. If
you’re thinking of entering the European Awards, then send your
application to IOSH too and you will be automatically entered into
a prize draw to win a free ticket to the IOSH Conference and
Exhibition 2013.”
