IOSH President attends Intersec 2010
March 2010
John Holden, IOSH President, represented the Institution this
January at the Intersec 2010 conference and exhibition. John
chaired the conference session on safety and health, which featured
a variety of speakers from around the world speaking on topics such
as safety leadership and dealing with emergency situations.
As part of the visit, John also opened a branch event and met
with the committee to discuss some of the challenges they will be
facing over the coming years. He also attended a working
party for the upcoming IOSH Middle East Conference taking place on
28 April, where he will be chairing the morning session.
John also had the opportunity to visit Dubai Drydocks, which was
organised by IOSH member and former branch committee member, Tony
Potter.
The shipyard is the largest facility of its kind in the Middle
East and it was excellent to see such a strong commitment to
occupational safety and health from all staff at the docks.
The IOSH Middle East branch continues to grow at a rapid pace,
with almost 700 members across the region. The executive
committee is currently looking for committed volunteers to help run
events and branch activities.

East branch, please contact Jonathan Gorvin.
