Experience
Alan spent the first 10 years of his career as
a Radiation Protection Adviser and Occupational Hygienist in the UK
nuclear industry (UKAEA). In 1989 he became manager of the
Operational Health Physics Group at the JET Fusion Experiment at
the Culham Laboratories in Oxfordshire. Since joining the European
Commission in 1999 he has managed research programmes under the
5th and 6th EC Framework Programmes. In 2006
he was responsible for the electronic proposal submission system
for the 7th Framework Programme and in 2009 helped
launch the Research Executive Agency. Alan is now a Programme
Manager in Brussels.
