Occupational health toolkit
The Toolkit is a free resource. It brings
together information, guidance, factsheets, case studies, training
materials, presentations and more to help you tackle occupational
health problems.
You can use the Toolkit to support what you do over the whole
process – from learning the background to a health issue, through
identifying and dealing with early symptoms, right to getting
people back to work if they’ve been off ill. The toolkit
also gives guidance on working with your colleagues in
occupational health
specialisms.
Which topics can the toolkit help me with?
Stress | Musculoskeletal disorders | Skin disorders | Inhalation disorders | Non work-related conditions
Please contact
Sheeraz Talib if you have any queries,
comments and suggestions about this toolkit.
Stress

Work-related stress is the harmful physical or psychological
reaction that occurs when people are subject to excessive work
demands or expectations.
Skin
An occupational skin disorder is a skin condition wholly or
partially caused or made worse by a person's work activity, such as
exposure to or coming into contact with substances such as
chemicals.
Musculoskeletal

Musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs) are conditions that affect the
nerves, tendons, muscles and supporting structures, such as the
discs in your back. They result from one or more of these tissues
having to work harder than they're designed to.
Inhalation

Inhalation disorders are dysfunctions associated with the
breathing in of a substance which can be in the form of a dust,
fume, mist, gas or vapour.
Non work-related conditions

This section of the Toolkit brings together information,
guidance, factsheets, case studies, training materials,
presentations and more to help you tackle non-work-related
occupational health issues.
