Working with a consultant
When you need specialist advice, you can't
always manage with in-house staff alone. This is where our Register
of health and safety consultants can help.
Search our Register for a list of consultants for the health and
safety advice you need. Most of our consultants cover the United
Kingdom and Ireland, but we do have some based in other
countries.
How does a consultant get on our Register?
Consultants have to meet certain standards to get onto our
Register, so you know you're getting the best.
Everyone on our Register of health and safety Consultants is a
qualified, Chartered member of IOSH. Chartered membership is
awarded to those members who've achieved an appropriate
qualification and a minimum two years of professional
experience.
Appropriate qualifications are:
- An accredited degree or diploma in occupational safety and
health or a related discipline; or
- Level 4 of the Vocational Qualifications for Occupational
Health and Safety Practice.
Chartered members can use the designatory letters
CMIOSH. Practitioners who've achieved a position
of eminence in the profession may become Fellows of IOSH. Fellows
use the designatory letters CFIOSH.
Some consultants have special qualifications and most have
experience in specific areas or topics.
Read our Code of
Conduct (PDF 62 KB) which all IOSH members agree to
adhere to.
What will it cost?
You can search the Register for free. Of course, if you decide
to use a consultant, you'll have to negotiate fees with them for
the work they provide.
Before you search the Register, you'll need to read and agree to
our guidance notes and terms of use.
