Sean Cusack CFIOSH
IOSH Retail and Distribution Group (Chair
2008-10)
Possibly the most widely recognised health & safety
practitioner in European Logistics today, Sean has worked full time
in health and safety since 1987.
He is a chartered fellow of the Institution, Director of
SHE at logistics company Wincanton, a Board member of the road
safety charity RoadSafe, judge of the Prince Michael International
Road Safety Awards and the National Business Awards, and is a
member of the HSE's tripartite Road Distribution Action Group as
well as their Ports and Logistics Strategy Group. He is
currently secretary of the industry "Load Security" Group.
Sean is the author of numerous articles in the trade and
professional press, and is a well recognised speaker at seminars
and conferences, both nationally and internationally.
Winner of two SHP IOSH awards (and shortlisted for a third) and
numerous other customer and industry HSE related awards.
Whilst Sean's background
(see profile published in Safety Management Magazine) was
originally in the chemical and pharmaceutical industry, he has also
held senior SHE positions in high tech and FMCG. He is
currently Group SHE Director for logistics company Wincanton plc,
which at peak employed in excess of 30,000 people across
Europe.
Sean has been a member of the Retail and Distribution Group
Committee since 2003. Vice Chair from 2006, and then chairing
the Group from 2008 until 2010, Sean helped steer the Group
through the major changes required of Groups and Branches by IOSH
following a review of membership requirements.
In addition, Sean is currently a member of the IOSH
Networks and International Committee
