Abigail is also Chair of the British Retail Consortium's Health and Safety, Policy group.

Abigail spent 9 years in local government as a District Environmental Health Officer and a food safety/health and safety specialist, before going to work for Debenhams as an Environmental Health and Safety Manager.  She remained there for 14 years, during which time the company won the ROSPA commercial and industrial sector award for health and safety management. 

Whilst at Debenhams  Abigail was involved in developing CSR and Environmental policies; and was responsible for all aspects of Health and Safety, including fire safety DDA (Disability Discrimination Act), compliance with the packaging regulations and also for Food safety including HACCPS.

In 2004 Abigail joined Argos Ltd and in 2006 took over responsibility for managing a joint Argos, Homebase and Home store and More health and safety team of 15 for the Home Retail Group. Covering 1,093 retail outlets in the Uk and ROI, call centres and the store and home delivery network with in-house and third party Distribution centres.
