Strategy
As health and safety practitioners in this field, we can often
find ourselves working alone. Our remits cover anything from single
operations, up to and including multiple sites and complex
environments.
The nature of our industry can make it hard to meet people in a
similar role, so our mission is to encourage networking to help
share experience.
We want to work with our members to join
the dots and create an integral, cohesive and effective health and
safety system, rather than working separately to reinvent the
wheel. Our current objectives include:
- increasing the internal and external profile of health and
safety in the retail and logistics sectors
- helping our members to network with each other, share
experiences and knowledge and support each other
- developing strategies for promoting and improving
accountability in senior management
- liaising with enforcement agencies to identify how best to
effectively enforce different legislative requirements.
By sharing what works, we can improve health and safety
standards and awareness in the sector, and provide evidence to
senior management that proactive health and safety strategies are
more cost-efficient than reactive ones in terms of increased profit
and reduced outlay, particularly in areas like insurance
premiums.
