Winners of the UK Oil and Gas Industry Safety Awards 2012

On 18 April, Oil & Gas UK and Step Change in Safety
announced the winners of the prestigious UK Oil and Gas Industry
Safety Awards, at a lunch celebrating exceptional contributions to
safety.
Award for Safety Leadership which recognises a
highly motivated individual who works tirelessly to ensure their
team work in a safe and professional manner at all times
Mark Cowieson, Rig Manager, Archer UK Ltd
Award for Safety Representative of the Year which
recognises an individual's active participation and effectiveness
in regards to the promotion of and commitment to the safety agenda
within the oil and gas industry
Robert Scott, BIS Salamis Scaffolder - East Brae Platform,
Marathon Oil
Award for Preventative Safety Action which
recognises an individual who, through their pro-active and vigilant
behaviour, successfully intervened to prevent a potential
incident
Nicholas McBride, HSE Technician, Rowan Drilling
UK
Award for Most Promising Individual which
recognises the enthusiasm of an individual who has demonstrated a
keen interest in safety matters and actively embraced the safety
culture in the oil and gas industry Duncan Innes, HSSE
Graduate, AMEC
Award for Innovation in Safety which recognises a
company's innovative approach to safety through the implementation
of a new process or
technique
ConocoPhillips (U.K.) Limited
Ideas in Safety Prize which is awarded to an
individual and/or team working on a UKCS offshore facility who have
developed an original idea for improving safety in the workplace
focusing on hydrocarbon leak
reduction

Award for Services to Safety
An additional award, the Award for Services to Safety was presented
to Mike Bowyer who was personally chosen by the
co-chairs of Step Change in Safety; Martin Ellins and Ken
Robertson. The award recognises an outstanding contribution by an
individual towards the Step Change in Safety vision; to make the UK
the safest place to work in the worldwide oil and gas industry.
