Manchester Airport improves communication following accident

Following two separate collisions between aircraft in 2007 and 2008, Manchester Airport Air Traffic Controllers no longer use the phrase ‘give way’.

Instead, air traffic controllers should use the phrase "hold position".

The change in procedure follows a report by the Air Accident Investigations Branch.
