Thank you to everyone who attended the previous Construction
Group meeting. It was very encouraging to see such a large turnout
for our first meeting, which I'm sure is reflective of the new
venue at Hampden Park and the presentation by Peter Campbell of
Construction Skills on the proposed changes to the Construction
Plant Competence Scheme (CPCS).
Two matters arising from the talk were the request for the
slides to be made available on the branch website and a
question on migrant workers. In relation to the latter, Peter
has provided a link to some relevant information which is on the
Construction Migrant
Workers website.
There were also two documents issued at the meeting with limited
copies. These were an alert received from the Major Contractors
Group, following a serious injury from a protruding rebar, and a
system scaffolds code of practice from the National Access and
Scaffolding Confederation.
