Certificate of Merit Awards 2009 and 2010

Back in May, local heroes were rewarded for their efforts to help make their workplaces healthy and safe at an awards ceremony at Hampden Park, Glasgow.  In the photograph, taken outside Hampden Stadium, are the 2009 Certificate of Merit winners and proposers as well as IOSH President, Nattasha Freeman and IOSH West of Scotland Branch Chairman, Alan Kirkwood.  All photos from the day can be viewed in our Event History. With 2009 drawing to a close, nominations are invited for the 2010 awards.  The IOSH West of Scotland Branch presents its Certificate of Merit Awards to deserving individuals from across its region who are considered to have made a major contribution towards health & safety within their workplace.  First presented in 1992, the award recognises the efforts of employees who, although not health and safety professionals themselves, have made an outstanding contribution to health and safety in their place of work.

Alan Kirkwood, chairman of the West of Scotland Branch of IOSH, said: “The Certificate of Merit Awards provide an opportunity to celebrate the success of health and safety champions in the workplace. Through their personal contribution, everyone who received the award is making peoples lives safer, as well as improving their health and wellbeing.”

Should members have a suitable candidate for nomination for the 2010 Certificate of Merit Award, please download the proposal form and ensure it is submitted to the Branch Secretary no later than 28 February 2010 (note – there will be no exception to the cut off date).

Based on merit, the number of award winners will be restricted following scrutiny by the Executive Committee, whose decision will be final in all cases. Many multiple applications from the same organisations will result in disappointment.

The IOSH West of Scotland Branch Certificate of Merit Awards Ceremony will take place at the Branch Dinner on the evening of 22nd April 2010 at Hampden Park, Glasgow. IOSH President, John Holden, will present the Awards.
