Outstanding contribution award for Steve Reid
The Tyne & Wear Branch has a very active membership of over
1000 and at the February 2010 meeting Branch Vice Chairman Phil Tye
was delighted to award a Branch Outstanding Contribution Award to
Steve Reid.
Steve is Head of Health Safety and Environment at the Port of
Tyne and is immediate past Chairman of the Branch. Steve has worked
tirelessly for many years on the Executive Committee holding
several roles and in a time of need did four consecutive years as
Chairman between 2004 and 2008. Still a Branch auditor and at the
February meeting a presenter on Accident Management, Steve plays an
active part in the Branch although he has now stepped down from the
Executive Committee.
On receiving the award from Phil Tye, Steve said, "I served on IOSH
Tyne and Wear Branch Executive for around 15 years , 4 of these as
Branch Chairman. I saw IOSH and the branch grow and develop
over this time and I was glad to be a part of this process. I
thoroughly enjoyed my time on the Executive and have many fond
memories and made some good friends along the way. Being given the
Outstanding Contribution Award on 17th February, which incidentally
was my birthday, was quite a surprise. Many thanks to the current
Branch Executive for this and I look forward to continue to
contribute to Branch affairs, if only as a branch member."
