The business benefits of health and safety
Overview
All organisations are aware of business costs, especially in
these difficult times, and health and safety is often seen as a
significant and unwarranted drain on resources.
If your strategy is sound, this isn't true, but it can be
difficult to make a solid business case for what you want to do.
This event will help you justify your spending and prove that
health and safety is good business.
Refreshments will be available from 12.30.
Speakers
- Mark Wilson: Member of the Policy and Strategy team of the
Health, Work and Well-being Directorate of Department for Work and
Pensions.
- Hugh Kempton: Safety Manager for CHEP UK & Ireland
Hugh will present CHEP’s introduction of a Behavioural
Observation System and its benefits to the organisation.
Mark will present the DWP view on the business case for good
health and safety practices.
Since joining DWP 2 years ago, Mark has been involved in
producing and implementing the Government's response to the Black
review. He has worked on many of the mental health and employment
initiatives, particularly the National Mental Health and Employment
Strategy, the project to embed Employment Advisors in IAPT
and DWP's input into PSA 16. He was also part of the DWP team
responsible for the Perkins review last year.
Prior to joining DWP, Mark worked on the cross-Government
Health, Work and Well-being Delivery Unit, supporting Carol Black
during her review. Before that, he spent 3 years working at
HSE.
