Professional experience
I left school in 1982 and started work as a car mechanic. While
working in garages, I gained an interest in health and safety
and worked in this industry for 10 years until I decided to become
a LGV driver.
I drove trucks around the UK until 2001 when I decided to spend
more time at home with my family. Due to deliveries into chemical
works, docks and high risk areas, my interest in
health and safety grew.
I decided to enrol on the NEBOSH General Certificate course in
2004 to help me in my career. In 2006 I studied for the NEBOSH
Construction certificate. Both of these qualifications I initially
funded myself with the company refunding fees after I passed the
Construction Certificate.
I became a CPCS training instructor in 2006. I am employed by
Seymour (CEC) Ltd as a safety and training manager.
