Best practice in MVR: Kent campaign
Overview
Is your Motor Vehicle Centre health and safety
savvy?
Will you know what the Inspectors are looking for should
they call?
There have been over 8000 injuries and 24 deaths in the motor vehicle repair (MVR)
industry over the last 5 years. Later in the year, the
HSE will be conducting inspections across Kent but are you
prepared?
IOSH South East Branch have teamed up with the East & South
East Division of the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) to
bring anyone involved in the motor vehicle repair industry a
unique opportunity - and for FREE.
On 18 October 2010 at Brands Hatch, we're holding a free half
day seminar (running in the morning and repeated in the afternoon)
with experts from the HSE and industry representatives
(insurance, best practice, etc.) to help businesses, employees and
consultants through the process and thus improve their health and
safety practice. Being inspected is never a pleasant
experience but this event will ensure you're fully prepared, aware
of the new guidance (HSG 261) and
know what paperwork will be required. You'll have the chance
to meet people who can help and there will be plenty of opportunity
to ask questions.
This session is essential for any MVR centre in Kent - large or
small - to help you improve your health and safety practice and
ease you through the inspection process.
What's in it for me
The session will look at:
- Key health and safety issues in the industry
- Priorities for tackling these issues
- Best practice and how improving can help the business
- The inspection process and what's expected from you
There will also be the opportunity to meet the people involved
in inspecting so that you have a valuable insight into what happens
and that you're ready when the inspector calls.
Who should attend?
The event is aimed at three groups:
MVR centres: owners, management and employees
Students: those new to the industry to help them prepare for
entering the workforce
Consultants: helping you to help your clients
