Health & Safety in the Renewable
Energy Industry
Overview
'RenewableUK', formerly known as the 'British Wind Energy
Association' (BWEA), is the trade association for wind power,
wave power and tidal power industries in the United Kingdom.
RenewableUK has over 660 corporate members, from wind, wave and
tidal stream power generation and associated industries
The association carries out research, and co-ordinates
statistics and intelligence on marine and wind power in the UK and
its waters. It also represents its members internationally, and to
Government, regional bodies and local authorities in the UK.
With the UK recognised as having the most attractive market for
wind energy, the British Wind Energy Association promote wind power
in this country and also work closely with the European Wind Energy
Association on matters of European policy. Wind power currently
accounts for about 2.2% of the UK’s electricity generation, but
this is expanding steadily.
