Welcome

On behalf of the committee of the South
Downs branch, it is my pleasure to welcome you to our website,
first resource for what’s happening in South Downs. Let me
start by thanking my predecessor Steve Andrews for his last two
years in the Chairman’s role.
The branch is full of enthusiastic members and
we will do our best to make that continue. The monthly
meeting should be an event to look forward to, a good evening out,
a chance for you to meet your peers, share the good and less good
things about managing safety in the 21st Century, and
stay up to date. There’s also a good buffet laid
on.
Soon, we will be sending out a questionnaire to gauge what our membership
wants in this fast changing world. Reducing the branch
business during the evening and increasing the input from you, the
members is on the agenda. We have a great website where both
local and national IOSH news is readily available.
Please note our special event on
5th June. Leadership, Let’s Draw on your
Experience. Your committee has been working hard to put this
great programme together. It’s at the Brighton and Hove
Football Stadium (“The Amex”), built in 2011, it is a superb venue,
and you can opt for a tour as well.

The committee looks forward to meeting you at
future events.

EXCLUSIVE
This year our Branch Seminar will focus on
'Leadership' and exploring
the traits of what constitutes a good leader. By understanding
what makes a good leader may assist each attendee in
developing their own career to perhaps themselves
becoming effective leaders in their own right. This
event is not to be missed and will be competitively
priced.
Branch Survey
Share your views and help our Branch meet your needs by
completing our brief survey. The
results will assist the committee to shape the future of the
branch and hopefully meet the expectations of the South Down
members.
Last Branch Meeting
Annual Legal
Update - May 2013

A full house with standing room only once again demonstrated how
popular Anne Davies is with the South Downs members. Her
knowledge and wealth of experience was obvious and she once again
delivered an exceptional presentation
covering a broad range of legal issues bringing the audience
up-to-date on case law both civil and criminal.
The branch thanked Anne in the usual way and we look
forward to her return next
year.
